When seeing it like this, mythology makes history come alive. When history it is factual, it becomes quite impersonal. With mythology the people are in there and the thread that connects us all throughout the ages can be felt. The impact of separating the 2 is literally separation. We re disconnected from our history and the past. When you look back at history there are some great atrocities and it seems we have not learnt from these. Perhaps if we were more connected to our history (with mythology), we wouldn't be able to separate ourselves so easily from the past and possibly the lessons on offer may be taken up more readily.
